"Design is in our DNA, and it's embedded in everything we do," says Airbnb's Chief Design Officer, Alex Schleifer.
That's the reason why Airbnb is always at the heart of designers. When Airbnb announced its 2023 summer release, designers were in awe, celebrating and sharing the beauty that Airbnb embodies. They celebrate the commitment to design that Airbnb has put forth and hope it can inspire other companies to believe more in design.
Brian Chesky, the CEO, said in his interview with The Verge that the new feature, Airbnb Rooms, and the new Host Passport are part of an effort to return the company to its roots, to the two core values: Design creativity married with technologies and the idea of community and connection.
"I just kind of felt like we really needed to get back to the roots of the company, back to our original founding ethos of sharing."

The creative genius Jony Ive, after his tenure at Apple, also lent his influence to this new initiative. He assisted the company in reframing its core values, crafting a bespoke book titled "Beyond Where and When" for Brian, and helped reshape the perception of Airbnb as a community.
