Theoretically, conducting a competitive analysis is important to understand the current landscape. However, you and your team will constantly be asking questions like, "Why would anyone want to use what we're making?" and "How is it different from what's already out there?" I see this as a push to solve a problem ambitiously.
I know it's easier said than done! That's basically it.
